What is the America's Cup?...[ more ]

Headed by Agustín Zulueta, the Desafío Español 2007 is the fourth Spanish challenge for the America's Cup, after San Diego, in 1992 and 1995, and Auckland, in 1999.
The team, which has set up a provisional base in the commercial district of the Port of Valencia, features a majority of Spanish sailors with prior experience in Cup racing or achievements at the Olympics, such as Luis Doreste. Several international sailors have been included to help strengthen the crew, such as the helmsman Karol Jablonski, the tactician John Cutler, or Matt Wachowitz, the navigator.
The Spanish challenge to win victory in the America's Cup counts on a fleet of three boats in the water at the same time, a first in the history of this trophy. The three boats are by the expert American racing boat design company Reichel & Pugh Yacht Design, whose design 'America3' won the America's Cup in 1992.
Together with the support of all its followers, the Spanish team will do its best to win the victory challenge in the 32nd America's Cup; the best America's Cup in history.
