Spanish hopes to remain in the races rose considerably yesterday after scoring two magnificent victories. The first of these was against Shosholoza, which the Spanish Challenge carried off with almost a minute advantage, whilst the second - a rematch against Mascalzone was won by the syndicate in just 35 seconds. The agreeable breeze of around twelve knots, as Emirates Team New Zealand continued their faultless number of wins with a considerable victory over United Internet team Germany. However, Areva started badly yesterday against BMW Oracle Racing, and a distance was soon established between the two teams that the French could never make up, and it now seems that any hopes of Areva reaching the next round have grown distant.
