Getting Better

It was revealed yesterday that the Valencian Airline Air Nostrum has had a 12% increase in passengers it flies in and out of Manises Airport just outside Valencia. Equally, the airline has increased the number of flights it operates out of Manises by 7%, whilst the average occupancy of its flights is 65%. A report from the company revealed that it considered Manises a key to its operations, where last year it obtained a market quote of 22% with 46% of flights from the airport. It was also announced that the airline would inaugurate for weekly flights to Bologna as from September.

Also yesterday Infrastructure Conseller Jose Ramon Garcia Anton expressed the view that both Manises in Valencia and El Altet in Alicante would become clogged within five years if the government in Madrid did not pursue its developments programmes for these two airports. He also stated that he hoped that Madrid would grant the Valencian Government the same permission it had granted to the Catalans, in that the running of the El Prat Airport in Barcelona was now jointly undertaken between the Madrid and Catalan Governments.
