Just Not On

Vicente Rambla, the Official Spokesman for the Valencian Governnent has stated that once again ‘the Socialist Government is acting against the best interests of the Community’. He made this comment after it was revealed that the Post Office is to issue a special stamp commemorating the Americas Cup that is to be unveiled in Madrid, not Valencia. Mr. Rambla added that it was the incentive of the Valencian Government that such a stamp should be issued,’ but now that incentive has been taken out of our hands and to some extent been turned against us’. He also stated that Public Administrations Minister Jordi Sevilla ‘was seeking every excuse possible to try and get into some sort of picture in which he is being seen as promoting the event after in effect turning his back on it for ages’. The Valencian Government had suggested that the launch of the stamp take place inside the Spanish Challenge base in Valencia Port, as it was that craft that featured on the stamp. However, all that was received in reply was an invitation from the President of the Postal Service to attend a ceremony in Madrid.
