Landing

German, Dutch, British, Belgian and even Japanese tourists were present early yesterday morning to see the traditional sea invasions of the moors at the start of the Moors and Christians Festival in Villajoyosa. Some 20,000 people were assembled on the shore as the ‘invasion’ took place illuminated by twelve giant arc lights.  After the ships were noticed the Christian forces gathered on the seashore to undertake hand-to-hand combat with the Moorish invaders. The festivities will continue over this weekend.
