An Explosive Catch

The Cap Prim Segon, a fishing smack based in Javea, yesterday came back to port with its usual consignment of prawns and shrimps as well as another, more unusual catch: an unexploded bomb.

Called to the port, bomb technicians of the Guardia Civil stated that there was no danger from the 11-kilo bomb, that had in all probability fallen from a Junkers aircraft that sank off Javea during World War II. Two years ago, another Javea craft, the Faro II ensnared part of the fuselage of the aircraft, but its weight broke the nets of the ship.
