Woman in court after serious assault on Son

A woman with dual German/Columbian nationality was in jail in Torrevieja yesterday after she poured a saucepan of boiling water over her 13-year-old son.

Paramedics were soon called to the scene and after stabilizing the boy’s condition, took him to Torrevieja Hospital, where his injuries were considered serious enough for him to be transferred to the Special Burns Unit of Alicante Hospital.

There a brief statement was issued to the effect that he had first and second-degree burns on his face, neck, arms and abdomen and it would be some days before it was known wither any skin grafting would be necessary.

Meanwhile his mother is set to appear in court later today.
